If you are having the time of your life but it doesn’t feel like it’s the time of your life, read this.

When you were a kid you ever dream about what life would be like as a grown up?  I would always play house with my friends. We would have kids, we would have these beautiful houses. I would feel so adult and responsible and like everything was made.

What did you think it would be like as a grown up?

Great things happen in adult hood.  Your future is in your hands.  You can do anything you want, you can be anything you want.  It’s solely up to you.

I hope you are living the life of your dreams right now and that it is playing out in a way that is everything you ever desired.  And if it isn’t 100% the life you dreamed of, I hope there are at least a few parts of your life that you couldn’t be paid to change.

Embodiment is about living deeply and engaging with life through all your senses.

Let me ask you something.

When you think about the things in your life that are everything you ever wanted -maybe it is the beautiful children you have, or the amazing home you live in. The fact that you can travel, go out to eat at amazing restaurants, or something else all together, do they feel as amazing as how you imagined they would feel?

I hear from a lot of people that the struggle is real.  That even though they have the things they want or that they are doing the things they always wanted to be doing, it’s not as great as they thought it would be.  There’s something missing.

Here is the painful real truth.

Money won’t give you happiness.  The family won’t give you happiness.  The freedom won’t even give you happiness.  We’ve been told happiness is an inside job, but that sentiment is only scratching the surface.

It is a job that is created inside your body.  Feelings are felt in the body.  That’s how they work.  If you are disconnected from your body all the life coaching or plant medicine in the world won’t help you have happiness.

The worst part is, in today’s world, it’s so normal to be disconnected from our body.

  • How many times have you pulled an all nighter to finish an assignment despite feeling exhausted?

  • How many times have you told yourself to push past the pain at the gym?

  • How many times have you driven your kids to another soccer practice even though you just wanted to take a nap?

Every time you ignore your body you are telling body it doesn’t matter.  Over time it just stops giving you those signals. It learns you aren't listening.  Your life has been hijacked by your mind, your schedule, all the things you are prioritizing more.

This is a great way to get things done, but because you ignored body so much it stopped telling you all the distress this was causing.

The good news is: you no longer feel the pain, the bad news is: you no longer feel anything.

You can't tell body you only want to feel the good and not the bad.

There is no way to separate out the body's way of giving signals of pleasure and signals of pain.

So when you stopped getting those distress signals, the pleasure signals went away too.

Suddenly you are watching your precious toddler shove a mouthful of dirt in their face and you realize you're missing out on all the laughter and joy that times like this would normally have.

It’s one thing to be distracted on your work phone when life is happening around you, but even when you unplug it’s another thing to literally feel numb and not even notice when life’s great moments are happening.

This is the disconnection that so many people are experiencing in their life.

And this is why embodiment is my personal mission.

When you are looking back on your life in 20 years, I don’t want you to remember these times with regret.  I don’t want you to wish that you had been more present or that you wish that you had enjoyed those times more.

I want you to love on them right now as they are happening!

The first step is to come home to your body and to learn to listen.
